3 John 1:2 - I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. If you want to be successful and prosperous God's way, then you must see these things from His perspective. When we think of success and prosperity, most of us see dollar signs, big houses, fast cars, boats, yachts, diamonds, etc... This is a worldly view, not God's view. While God's view does include having enough money to do what He has called you to do, it also includes having good health, good relationships, peace of mind, contentment, and much more. God's desire is that you would prosper in your spirit, soul, and body. Luke 12:16/20 - In these verses Jesus tells a parable of a certain rich man whose barns would not hold all of his crops, so he planned to build bigger barns to lay up his goods for many years. But God said to him... "Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided? So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God." This man was a millionaire; yet, God called him a fool. You too could have all the goods this world has to offer, but if you're not rich towards God, you're not prosperous. True prosperity does not come from large sums of money or possessing an abundance of this worlds treasures. To be prosperous in God's eyes is to be rich in your spiritual condition. It has nothing to do with material possessions, but it has everything to do with your relationship with God. If you are rich towards God, He is rich towards you... This is true prosperity... Likewise, poverty is not the result of a poor financial situation. In reality, poverty is a destructive spirit sent from the devil to rob people. People are not poor because they have no money, they are poor because Satan has stolen their health, family, relationships, or dreams. Hebrews 11:6 - Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him first. Show God your faith through prayer and worship. Show God your faith through reading and obeying His Word, and by being faithful in tithes and offerings. Matthew 6:33 - Jesus said, "...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Seeking God's blessings should not be your goal. You should be seeking to know God, to build a better relationship with Him, through faithful spiritual disciplines. God's prosperity of good values, sound decisions, and proper living will follow. Seek God first, more than you seek after other things, because success and prosperity come from doing things God's way. They are bi-products of living in God's will. When you seek God first, you will value what He values, and consistently make right decisions for true prosperity. Joshua 1:8 - Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that yo may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. This verse gives us three keys to success and prosperity God's way. As you apply the three keys of - Speaking God's Word - Meditating on His Word - and Acting according to His Word - you will be changed by what is in your heart. God's Word provides direction for every situation you will ever encounter. Spend time building and developing your relationship with the Lord and let His Word settle deep into your heart. Speaking, meditating, and acting on God's Word will influence every aspect of your life. Remember the acronym of - JOY...
