Cast Down Mindsets

2 Corinthinas 10:4/5 - For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ... NKJV

Like it or not - we are in a war - and this is a spiritual battle of great magnitute. This is not a war that we can fight with material things, such as armies battle with tanks, planes, bombs, etc... This is a spiritual war that takes place on the battlefield of our minds.

John 8 tells us that our enemy, the devil, is the father of all lies. He knows our weaknesses, insecurities, struggles, limitations, problems, shortcomings, etc... His plan is to steal, kill and destroy your life, and since he has nothing but time on his hands, he is very patient and cunning to plan out a long term strategy to get you.

He will try to get you by setting up strongholds and bondages in your mind. He will exalt himself against the knowledge of God with arguments, mindsets, thoughts, worldly philosophies, etc... and he will continue to bombard your mind with ungodly and worldly passions and desires.

God tells us that through His mighty power we can cast down those arguments, mindsets and worldly philosophies. We can pull down strongholds and take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NIV

John 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. NIV

Christ "IS" the "LIVING WORD" - thus, bringing our thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ means to live in obedience to the Word of God.

With this in mind, I think we can clearly see that Romans 12:2 is one of the most important verses on the subject of victorious Christin living.

If you do not take captive and control your thoughts through the renewing of your mind, you will never be able to take control of your attitudes and actions.

Romans 12:2 - Amplified - Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing that is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
